A new opportunity for itrek Leaders to host authentic Israeli voices on campus. The first Campus Conversations will be available to itrek Leaders in DC, Philadelphia, NYC, New Haven, & Boston, with potentially a second round for itrek Leaders in LA, San Francisco, Chicago, Ann Arbor, and more. Sign up now to host itrek’s favorite speakers or plan a unique half-day experience of your own. If you would like itrek to come your city, let us know by reaching out to your Program Manager!
What is the goal of Campus Conversations?
The goal of Campus Conversations is to introduce your peers to authentic Israeli voices and perspectives in a thoughtful and engaging manner. Hosting interesting Israeli speakers is a great way to generate/maintain interest for opportunities to actually travel to Israel in the future.
How does it work?
itrek developed a framework for a three-hour session and arranged for some of our favorite speakers and educators to join you on campus. Now is your chance to engage with the most spoken-about place in the world, showcase voices that don’t get the attention they deserve, and bring needed perspective to your peers. Select which dates you would like to host a special Campus Conversations of your own. For any schools/cities not represented in the locations below, itrek will support you to design your own custom experience. Please reach out to your Program Manager if you would like to design your own experience.

Who are the Speakers?
Ashager Araro is an Ethiopian-Israeli activist. Araro was born during Operation Solomon, an Israeli operation that evacuated over 14,000 Ethiopian Jews to Israel. She and her family are among the 160,000 Ethiopian Jews now residing in Israel. Araro is a passionate advocate for Zionism, and engages global audiences about the diversity of the Jewish people. Araro founded Battae, an Ethiopian Israeli heritage center in Tel Aviv that shares the traditions and history of Ethiopian Jewry.
Karen Ben Yehuda is a licensed tour guide with expertise in Israel’s culture, history, and nature. She specializes in guiding educational groups, Christian pilgrims, geopolitical tours, mindfulness tours, and culinary tours, as well as customized tours for people with physical and/or cognitive disabilities. In addition to guiding within Israel, Karen also leads tailor-made educational tours in Poland.She believes in creating experiences that are full of laughter, personal stories, and love.
Dr. Mijal Bitton is a spiritual leader, public intellectual and sociologist of American Jews. She is the Spiritual Leader of the Downtown Minyan in New York City and a Visiting Researcher at NYU Wagner. Mijal earned her doctorate from New York University where she is now directing the first national study of Sephardic and Mizrahi Jews in the United States. She is an alumna of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship and was selected in 2018 for inclusion in “36 under 36” in the New York Jewish Week as a “

How do participants sign up?

itrek will have a dedicated online page for participant registration. For the event to move forward, Leaders will need to secure at least 30 participant registrations.

What's in it for the Leaders?
In addition to the impact itself, ALL itrek Leaders that host a Campus Conversations will be eligible for a $200 subsidy toward a flight to Israel to use at their discretion through 2024.

Groups that have 50+ people in attendance will be eligible for $500 subsidy per Leader

Groups that have 100+ people in attendance will be eligible for $750 subsidy per Leader
